Inbetweeners writer Iain Morris has confirmed that a movie of the show is in the works. Speaking exclusively to Europe Digital, Morris said that a script has been written, but they are yet to receive funding for the project. "We've written a film script because for me, the most defining experience of an 18-year-old boy is when you go on your first holiday with your mates," he said. "That would be exciting." He added: "I don't know how films work - I've never made a film before. We're written a script so we're just hoping Film4 will say, 'Here's the money, here's the helicopter, now go to Tenerife and film it!' "I think there'll probably have to be a few more conversations before that happens!" The Inbetweeners returns for its third series in 2010.

Sarah Lancashire and Ian Hart have signed up for BBC One's new drama Five Daughters, it has been announced. The three-part serial, written by Stephen Butchard, follows the Ipswich murders and subsequent police investigation in 2006. Jaime Winstone, Eva Birthistle, Natalie Press, Juliet Aubrey, Aisling Loftus, Kate Dickie, David Bradley, Lisa Millet, Ruth Negga, Kristen Wareing and Al Weaver have also landed parts. Butchard said of the drama: "These five young women, precious to their families, had heart, ambition and potential; until an event or events, one wrong turn, one chance meeting led them into the world of heroin and crack. "Their dependency on these drugs facilitated their easy exploitation and led them to the street. Our hope is that this drama provides a glimpse of the real girls their families knew."

Channel 4 has hired Derren Brown - The Events executive producer Justin Gorman as its new head of entertainment to replace Andrew Newman. In his role at independent production firm Objective, Gorman gained notoriety for producing Brown's groundbreaking series for Channel 4, including the high-profile How To Win The Lottery episode. From January 2010, he will take over from Newman, who moves in the opposite direction to take on a position at Objective. Reporting to head of Channel 4 Julian Bellamy, Gorman will oversee all commissioning of entertainment programming across the main channel and E4. "This is a key moment for entertainment on both Channel 4 and E4. The freeing up of commissioning hours and cash brought about by the decision not to recommission Big Brother means there are a multitude of opportunities in this area," said Bellamy. "Great entertainment is a key part of Channel 4, and I look forward to working closely with Justin to find the next generation of groundbreaking entertainment shows for the channel." In his broadcasting career, Gorman has also worked at Hat Trick, Granada and Princess Productions, and been involved with ITV1 shows Popstars, Blind Date and The Cube.
